Medify Air Teams Up to Give Back to the West Coast with Over $2.5 Million In Donations

Medify Air was founded on the core belief that everyone should have access to cleaner and healthier air. Our mission is to help our customers live more comfortable lives, particularly during emergencies such as wildfires. We also aim to reduce the symptoms that allergy sufferers go through either seasonally or year-round. We accomplish this by removing harmful airborne particles and gases from the air that aggravate indoor allergies. This is why, at Medify Air, every air purifier we design is made with True HEPA air filters, quality parts, and follows strict industry guidelines. Medify holds itself to these high standards to make sure our purifiers and filters follow best in class guidelines and certifications, such as Energy Star, Intertek, AHAM Verifide, and ASHRAE 241. In addition to holding ourselves to high standards, Medify values giving back to the community and supporting emergency relief efforts, cleaner air in schools, and new indoor air quality legislation.

Recently, Medify Air had the opportunity to work with the Brown University, School of Public Health, The Penn Air Group, SMART, SMACNA, FEMA, LA Dream Center, and Washington State Department of Health to organize a donation of over $2.5 million dollars’ worth of air purifiers and HVAC filters for California. LA county suffered massive destruction from the January wildfires and many individuals in the community have been working to rebuild. Surrounding counties have also been dealing with higher levels of air pollutants due to the wildfire smoke. Many schools around California are also working to improve their indoor air quality for their students and staff.

Medify partners with organizations that share similar values and goals and aims to make cleaner air accessible to everyone. “We are excited to partner with all of these great organizations and want to remind everyone in California how important it is to run air purifiers and regularly change their filters. Even though the wildfires aren’t as great a risk as they have been, the fine particles and gases from wildfire smoke can build up indoors even though they may not be visible. These toxins stay in the air for a long period of time. Running an appropriately sized air purifier effectively removes airborne particles and gases from our living, learning, and working spaces. Improved indoor air quality can impact overall health, cognitive function, infectious disease transmission rates, and comfort. Just as it is important to run purifiers, it is also important to change your filters for your HVAC and air purifier. If you are battling heavy wildfire smoke, you must change your filters regularly to ensure your unit is operating effectively. I urge everyone to learn more about these organizations we worked with and how they help to impact our air quality” Jack Austin, Executive Vice President, Medify Air.

The Brown University School of Public Health’s mission is to improve the health of all populations, especially those most vulnerable. We do this by forging respectful, ethical, high-impact partnerships to address local, national, and global community health needs. Improving indoor air quality is one of the many ways we live out this mission–to protect everyday health and reduce the risks of airborne infectious diseases. The collaboration with Medify Air enabled us to partner together to create the highest impact possible with this gift of cleaner air. “We have worked together to strategically and intentionally identify the use of these filters to help vulnerable populations–in this case, schools that have been impacted by a natural disaster. This is a real-world example of how corporate generosity can amplify public health efforts, leading to better health outcomes in communities facing significant challenges.” Natalie Kopp, Director of Strategic Priorities, Brown University School of Public Health.

The Penn Air Group is dedicated to improving indoor air quality within the community. Their organization serves to protect workers, improve lives, work conditions, and productivity, all while ensuring that the surrounding community receives the same attention. “On behalf of Penn Air, I would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Medify Air for your generous donation of air filters. We're pleased to share that these filters will be used in our upcoming CalShape school projects, where they will play a vital role in improving indoor air quality for students, teachers, and staff alike. Clean air is essential for creating a safe and healthy learning and teaching environment. Your contribution will help us equip schools with high-quality air filtration solutions that reduce airborne pollutants, promote better respiratory health, and support overall student well-being.” Pedro Corrales, HR Generalist, Penn Air Control.

SMART and SMACNA are both dedicated to improving air quality. SMART, the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers ensures the quality of the air we breathe, promote energy efficiency and produce and provide the vital services that move products to market and passengers to their destinations. They are sheet metal workers, service technicians, bus operators, railroad engineers, conductors, sign workers, welders, production employees and more. As Tiffany Finck-Haynes of SMART states, "Poor ventilation not only has major health impacts on kids and teachers in our schools — it can also be detrimental to a student’s performance in the classroom. This donation will go a long way in helping ensure that students are learning in a safer and healthier environment. SMACNA contractors and SMART local unions and crafts persons are at the forefront of educating school districts on the importance of testing and maintaining their HVAC systems. The sheet metal industry will continue to be a big part of safety discussions in schools, and we will work closely with everyone in the industry to better educate and advocate for the well-being of students and staff moving forward.”

The LA Dream Center has been working diligently to help the community of LA recover and rebuild. They rely heavily on donations and offer tools, education, community, and support through various programs, all free of charge. At the beginning of 2025 after the wildfires, Medify Air donated more than 2,500 air purifiers to the LA Dream Center. These donations were made possible by Medify’s Buy One Give One program, where they matched all purchases made between January 13th through January 31st. In March Medify made another donation that brought the new total to over 3,800 air purifiers and 800 filters.

Finally, The Washington State Department of Health is doing a hub-and-spoke distribution program that will focus on our 35 local health jurisdictions, 29 Federally recognized Tribes, and other state agencies. Donations will be aimed at supporting local health partners, tribes, and state agencies experiencing health disparities and will be vital in addressing inequities. These donations will help strengthen resources and provide services to underserved communities, particularly those facing social, economic, and geographical barriers to resources, ensuring accessibility to clean air spaces.

Medify Air is proud of the impact that this West Coast donation is making in California. In total $2,638,679 worth of air purifiers and filters have been donated by Medify Air. Medify encourages all of its customers to learn more about these organizations and reach out if they are interested in supporting their efforts. Medify is currently organizing an East Coast donation of over $1.5 million of high-quality HVAC filters; anyone interested can contact Tony Colaneri at tony@medifyair.com.
